  1. Hmmm…don’t know why my reply didn’t “take”, so here’s a separate comment:

    Actually, they did catch her. She was convicted for and hanged for the murder of her final victim. A _lot_ of others within her social spheres died of similar causes, but deaths weren’t officially registered until 1874, by which time she already had a 22-year head start on her insurance scams.
