    • In translation: “I will work for free.”

      So when she shuns it, it’s meant as a deterrent to those too frugal (read: cheap) to pay for what their work is really worth. As the Joker said in “The Dark Knight”: “If you’re good at something, never do it for free.”

    • Just looked that up too. In this case spec is short for speculative, so the client wants to see examples or a finished product before they agree to pay, meaning Jill could do all the work for them only to turn around and say “Never mind” with nothing to show for her efforts.

    Somebody seriously needs a better prescription of eyeglasses.
